> Rural Management
Rural areas (also referred
to as "the country", countryside) are sparsely settled places
away from the influence of large cities. Such areas are distinct from
more intensively settled urban and suburban areas. The Soul of India lives
in its villages", declared M. K. Gandhi in the beginning of 20th
century. According to the Indian Census of 2001, 74% of Indians live in
638,365 different villages. Villages in India vary by population, 236,004
Indian villages have a population less than 500. While 3,976 villages
have a population of 10,000+. Many institutes have recognised the importance
of rural management. Some institutes are offering MBA in Rural management
courses.
