The School of Distance Education of Bharathiar University was established in the year 1991-1992 with the motto "Educate to Elevate". During the very first year, more than 5000 students joined the various courses offered by the School of Distance Education. So far over 50,000 students have been benefited. Currently it caters to the needs of about 10,000 students. It offers UG, PG, PG Diploma Courses in the field of Management, Commerce, I.T., Bio-Technology,Bio-informatics, Clinical Pshycology, Mathematics, Costume Design & Fashion and Visual Communication.

            The School of Distance Education does not have any Agent/agency/Coaching Centre anywhere. Students are advised to apply directly to the School of Distance Education for admission. Application sent through Agents/Agencies/Coaching Centres will be summarily rejected. All the legal proceedings will be in the jurisdiction of Coimbatore.
