Post-Graduate Degree/Diploma Courses (2008 Session)

Admission to Postgraduate Courses in Private, Medical & Dental Colleges of Karnataka for the Academic Year 2008 – 2009 through COMEDK Postgraduate Entrance Test and Centralised Counselling.

Karnataka Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association have set up “COMDEK” to organise a ‘Post Graduate Entrance Test’, that would facilitate selection of candidates on merit for admissions to postgraduate courses offered by Medical and Dental Colleges run by its member. COMEDK PGET 2008 entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by central counseling (Single window system). The details of the arrangement made will be publicized in due course on our website: www.comedk.org. Candidates are advised to visit the Comedk website regularly for all updates

Eligibility Criteria

Degree / Diploma Programs:

Applicants must meet all requirements stipulated by MCI / DCI. Accordingly, they should have successfully passed their M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. from an institution recognised by MCI / DCI, and must have completed or completing their internship by 30/04/08.
MCI / DCI Norms:


Every student, selected for admission to the Post Graduate medical / dental course in any of the medical / dental institutions in the country, shall possess recognized M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. degree or equivalent qualification and should have obtained permanent registration with the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India, or any of the State Medical / Dental Council or should obtain the same with in one month from the date of admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.

Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the college / institution to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for Post Graduate studies; Provided further, that temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subjected to the condition that such person is duly registered as medical practitioner in his own country from which the applicant has obtained his / her basic medical / dental qualification and that his / her degree is recognized by the corresponding Council or concerned authority.

As per the Post Graduate Regulation 2000 of Medical Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test (COMEDK PGET-2008) for eligibility for admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Category candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (OBC as declared by Government of Karnataka from time to time).

As specified by the Dental Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test (COMEDK PGET-2008) for admission to Post Graduate Dental courses shall be 50% for all the candidates (Reference: DCI. Letter No. DE 14-2004/1135 dated 05 May 2004).

Rank list / Rank Card will be prepared only for those students who become eligible for admission to Post Graduate Courses as per the Medical Council of India or Dental Council of India Regulations.


About COMEDK PGET 2008 Test

The Entrance Test COMEDK PGET-2008 is mandatory for all candidates seeking admissions to Member Institutions of COMEDK. A merit / rank list is generated based on the candidate's scores in COMEDK entrance test.

As part of our test process, to ensure fairness to the merited students and to eliminate fraudulent attempts, it is planned to use Biometrics (Fingerprinting) at various stages of the process and this would be done at the discretion of COMEDK.
